57 Pistol Round - The all-new Ruger-57 pistol is a very unique weapon chambered in 5.7×28mm ammunition. The 5.7x28mm (5.7) pistol cartridge developed by FN in the 1980s is a high-velocity, small-caliber pistol cartridge based on the 5.56x45mm SS109 NATO cartridge. Ammo is very fast, reaching 2,000 feet per second when leaving a 5-inch barrel. In the US, Roger introduced the Model 57 chambered in 5.7x28mm in late December 2019. I am fortunate enough to be the first to review and share with you the "hot off the press" Ruger-57 pistol.
There is no doubt that the 5.7x28mm cartridge is a great cartridge that offers many advantages. The 5.7 barrel and barrel have been lowered and some believe the 9x19mm has improved performance. As you can see from the image above, this ring is designed long and slender with a bottle neck box and pointed shaft. 4 times longer than its diameter. This is about 1.5 times wider than a standard 9mm ring. The 5.7x28mm bullet is further behind the barrel than other models. So when a 5.7 bullet hits a target, the bullet tends to hit or jump forward and deflect to the side, causing a larger wound. This helps the bullet's energy reach the target more efficiently, making it less likely to hit anything behind the target. Therefore, the wound space becomes larger. Delivering more power, the over-penetration is wider. Some say the 5.7mm NATO has only one-third the recoil and two-thirds of the 9x19mm. The pressure level of the cartridge is low enough to reach the rear of the pistol, reducing the feeling of recoil. I had to shoot it myself to see how the recoil felt and compare it to the nice FN 5.7 pistol I reviewed here in December 2016.

5.7 There are different opinions about cartridges and pistols, and it depends on how you define and measure "capacity". Despite criticism from gun control groups, the ATF investigation did not find commercial ammunition intended to fire civilian-market 5.7 pistols, as some have claimed. The second-generation 5.7-ton cartridge was developed for the law enforcement and civilian markets. The "LF" (Leadless SS195LF) ammo is used for training and law enforcement, and the SS197SR sporting ammo is for civilian use due to the ban on firearms in the United States. The SS195LF is a round lead-free (HP) hollow point, leading and completely lead-free projectile. It is even designed for use indoors or in areas where there is a risk of lead contamination. Firearm Review] New Ruger 57 Chambered In 5.7x28mm
Some consider the cost of the 5.7x28mm ammo to be a major drawback. Think about it. A civilian-grade SS197SR circuit costs about $20. Per 50 rounds, the SS195LF HP rounds are about $25 per 50 rounds. So this type of ammo now seems to be closer to .45 ACP (eg Speer Gold Dot 230 HP $28) as a personal wallet choice.

I can't wait to shoot this pistol and have purchased a 40 grain 5.7x28mm cartridge from the Federal Eagle AE5728A. But there is, you can shop for the best ammo prices. Ammo 5.7 FN is supplied by Herstal, Federal and Speaker. I jumped on this bow so quickly that I had to shoot more to test it and fully appreciate it. I appreciate Ruger donating some more ammo. I had fun shooting this gun and was amazed at how accurate it was, no raised muzzle and very light recoil for such a light gun. I enjoyed shooting the 400 and could not put this fine rifle down. I usually shoot 500 rounds in a few days to decide what I want to use the gun for and how to use it. Here are my ratings for each of the 10 dimensions of the Ruger-57 for long-range shooting and home defense purposes. I'm also wondering if this 4.9 inch barrel and 5.6 inch light pistol would be a carry gun. Not too heavy, not too big or bulky for me. I know some carry it. I wanted to put the gun through its paces and fully test its misfire, stoppage, accuracy and reliability. This Ruger-57 pistol works great. No issues with it, no stopping, I love the 20 round capacity ammo. Digests different ammo with no problem. I'm really surprised at how low the recovery feels and doesn't stick out. I can honestly say that the recoil is more than my 9mm and my .22 mag is close. Handling was smooth and buttery smooth when I put the slide in, and the magnet was easy to insert and release from the well. And contaminants fall out of the magnetic well quickly and easily. His performance is very good. I was impressed with its short, smooth, light and sharp trigger action, even though it is double-action, like a single-action pistol. I like the ergonomics and lines on this gun. Even though it's polymer, it feels stiff while being very light in my hand. It's comfortable in my hand and the texture of the grip is just right for me. The stock is thin enough to hold 20 rounds in a fairly long and wide magazine. For my average hand, the grip feels just right and comfortable for me. Again, I want to emphasize that this tool has a nice soft reset and is very low on output. High resolution performance and performance. Below I'll get specific specs after testing my range and give my thoughts on each one.
At different distances, especially between 10 and 25 yards, accuracy is very acceptable, but make your own decisions based on your abilities and qualifications and budget.

The Ruger-57's accuracy for me is excellent from 5 yards to 25 yards. This old-fashioned hunting was fun, but the rifle did most of the work. No need to adjust the background for elevation or wind. After no shakes at all, my hits are great. 4.75#
