80 Pistol Glock - The GLOCK P80 9mm Pistole 80 revolutionized the firearms industry and established the iconic GLOCK brand. Gaston Glock designed his first pistol for the Austrian military pistol trials in 1981. After this valuable competition win, the Austrian Army named it the Pistol 80 and the first GLOCK pistol produced was then designated the P80. In 1986 this same pistol, known commercially as the G17, was introduced to the US market. You now have the opportunity to own your own piece of GLOCK history with the special GLOCK P80 Edition from Lipsey. Here is your chance to own a historic reproduction of the legendary gun.
The long history of GLOCK excellence began in the early 1980s when Gaston Glock handed over the GLOCK P80 to the Austrian Army. With a polymer housing and SAFE ACTION® system, this game-changing pistol passed a series of rigorous tests and was selected as the Army's service weapon of choice. With unprecedented success in military applications, the GLOCK P80 was commercially released as the famous GLOCK 17.

In partnership with firearms distributor Lipsey, GLOCK is offering a limited edition reinvention of the 1980s GLOCK P80 9mm model. That is, a Gen1 GLOCK 17 pistol with all the vintage features, including a single pin frame, gravel grip texture, smooth trigger surface, original flat extractor, and no accessory rail or front slide cleats.
If you were too young—or too traditionalist—to buy a GLOCK pistol in the 1980s, here's your chance to redeem yourself: GLOCK, along with Lipsey, commemorates the adoption of the GLOCK P80 by the Austrian military with recreations inspired by the original. GLOCK Pistol 80. Namely, a faithful reproduction of the first generation GLOCK,
The GLOCK P80 mimics all the features of the Gen1 pistol, including the grip texture and flat extractors.
The story is well known, but bears repeating if anyone has been asleep for the last 30 years or so. Gaston Glock designed his first pistol for the Austrian Army's pistol trials in 1981, and after its adoption, the Austrian Army named it the Pistol 80, or P80. In 1986 this same pistol was introduced to the US market as the G17. A star is born. It wasn't the first polymer-frame gun ever produced—that distinction went to the Heckler & Koch VP 70 that predated GLOCK by 12 years—but it would become the most famous. The technical solution would indeed be a "source of inspiration" (sometimes a bland description for plagiarism) to many gun manufacturers around the world.

Now Lipsey's, one of the largest independently owned American firearms distributors, is offering a special 9mm GLOCK P80 Edition with (almost) all the "mother of GLOCK" features.
The frame is of the "single pin" type used on early Gen1/Gen2 pistols, and again on later Gen5 guns.
Being 100% factory built at GLOCK, the "new" P80 shouldn't be labeled a replica, but more accurately described as a re-offering of the original 1980s model.
Some of the highlights of the GLOCK P80 pistol include the GLOCK Gen 1 style polymer frame single pin (includes the "double pin" style introduced with the Gen2, but the single pin above the trigger is actually back with the Gen5), vintage gravel grip texture, smooth trigger surface, extractor original Flat, and no support rails or front slide cleats. (Obviously, no finger indentation here!)

The slide also proudly bears the P80 mark, while the sights are made of polymer. Of course, the slide finish is no longer the old Tenifer, replaced here by a more modern nDLC finish. But most don't care about it—assuming they know about it.
To enhance the "nostalgic effect", the pistol will come in the original "Tupperware" style pistol case and will be wrapped in specially designed packaging commemorating the pistol's historical significance. Certificate of Authenticity is also included.
Who is excited about the newly created first generation GLOCK? For every gun user and GLOCK enthusiast a beginner, as this is still a reliable and complete GLOCK pistol. But collectors and nostalgic shooters aren't too young anymore to relive the 1980s or miss the chance to pick up a Gen1 GLOCK.
