Gate 6 Fort Gordon - The first major construction project outside Fort Gordon's new Gate 6 is in the planning stages. Here are five things you should know.

For many travelers around Fort Gordon, the flow of traffic and accessibility throughout the facility is about to change.
Access Control Point 6, or Gate 6, is tentatively scheduled to open in mid-October, according to Fort Gordon Garrison Commander Col. Shaw Pick.
Located one mile from Gate 2, the new Gate 6 was designed to better support Fort Gordon's growing infrastructure. With six entrance lanes and a commercial gate capable of "queuing 13 tractor-trailers without blocking a single lane of traffic," the estimated $36 million project outperforms other gates installed. "[Gate 6] is the future main gate of Fort Gordon," Pick said. "This will change the way people engage with facilities for the better."
Reason To Celebrate'
Of Fort Gordon's growth and important mission, Pick said Gate 6 is just one example of how the military and surrounding communities see Fort Gordon.
"Things like this ... I think it shows that the aspirations of the nation's cyber capabilities coming to Fort Gordon are real. I went from talking about campuses in terms of 'what's going to happen' to talking about them in terms of campuses at because of the number of. "It's being built today," Pick said. Exact hours of operation have not yet been determined, but Gate 6 will essentially be the new "main" access control point and will have maximum access hours.
